You can remove gel nail polish at home by following these steps:

Materials You’ll Need:

  1. Acetone or a gel nail polish remover.
  2. Cotton balls or cotton pads.
  3. Aluminum foil.
  4. A nail file or buffer.
  5. Cuticle oil or moisturizer.

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Start by ensuring you have a clean and well-ventilated workspace. Lay down some paper towels or an old towel to catch any spills.
  2. File the Top Coat: Use a nail file or buffer to gently remove the shiny top coat from your gel nails. This step is important because it allows the acetone to penetrate the polish more effectively.
  3. Soak the Cotton Balls: Soak small pieces of cotton balls or cotton pads in acetone or a gel nail polish remover. You can use pure acetone for quicker results, but it can be harsh on your nails, so be careful if you have sensitive nails or skin.
  4. Wrap Your Nails: Place the soaked cotton over each nail, ensuring it covers the entire nail surface. Then, wrap each nail in a small piece of aluminum foil to keep the cotton in place.
  5. Wait: Let your nails soak in the acetone for about 10-15 minutes. During this time, you can wrap all your fingers if you have enough aluminum foil.
  6. Gently Remove Gel Polish: After the soaking time, carefully unwrap one nail and use a gentle, downward motion to push the gel polish off. You can use a wooden cuticle stick or an orangewood stick to help lift the softened gel. Be gentle to avoid damaging your natural nails.
  7. Repeat as Needed: If there is any gel polish left on the nail, re-wrap it and allow it to soak for a few more minutes. The gel should come off more easily with each soak.
  8. Clean and Moisturize: Once you’ve removed all the gel polish, wash your hands to remove any acetone residue. Apply cuticle oil or moisturizer to rehydrate your nails and cuticles, as acetone can be drying.
  9. Buff and Shape: Use a nail buffer to smooth the surface of your natural nails if needed. You can also reshape them with a file.
  10. Apply a Base Coat: If you plan to apply more nail polish, it’s a good idea to apply a base coat to protect your natural nails.

Please note that regular use of acetone or gel polish removers can be drying to your nails, so it’s essential to moisturize and take breaks between gel manicures to keep your nails healthy. If you experience any irritation or damage, consult a professional nail technician or a dermatologist for advice.
