The tower is designed to twist 90 degrees from its base to its top, making it the world’s tallest high-rise building with a 90-degree twist. It was completed in 2010.

The Cayan Tower has 73 stories of residential and office space and is located in the Dubai Marina district of Dubai. The building contains 1,400 parking spaces on three basement levels. The total cost for construction was about US$1 billion.

The Cayan Tower was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill SOM architectural group who also designed the Burj Khalifa, also located in Dubai. The design for Cayan Tower was inspired by the rolled paper used in Chinese calligraphy.

The exterior of Cayan Tower is covered in blue reflective glass. The outer walls are angled at 30 degrees from the vertical axis which provides shading for the interiors as well as views of the Persian Gulf for the occupants.
